Haven't used Netgear in years, I'm going to assume not, ASUS may not be everybody's favorite either, but Netgear has been getting worse for years.

superfes ,

Sorry bro, I don't really like Mac & Cheese either.

superfes ,

I really want this to make sense, at least the meme is gettable though, good job.

superfes ,

I haven't seen any AI results yet, wonder if you have to be logged in for that.

superfes ,

But you haven't clicked yes on any of the offers yet...

superfes ,

On the plus side, it can't get any worse.

Wayland is the replacement for X11, it's getting pretty close to what I consider pretty good, I only have 2 more desires for Wayland, I'd like it to be able to remember where my windows were placed, and I'd like scaling to not suck.

superfes ,

I'm using KWin, and you could for example start every Firefox window at the same specific position, but it would be better if it could just be where I put it last time, because even if I pop every window in the same place or not, the instant you have more than one window, it's useless. Remembering would be preferential.

superfes ,

The exact same problem remains unsolved by your second recommendation, obvious trolling at this point.

Feel certain that if KWin could solve the problem, I wouldn't list it as a problem.

superfes ,

For a single window.

superfes ,

What is it?

superfes ,

Ah, thanks... gross...

superfes ,

I thought MS abandoned Cortana? I wouldn't personally know (been living in Linux for almost 20 years).

superfes ,

Been using Gentoo since 2004.

A helpful graphic about writing alt text (lemmy.ml)

image descriptionAn infographic titled “How To Write Alt Text” featuring a photo of a capybara. Parts of alt text are divided by color, including "identify who", "expression", "description", "colour", and "interesting features". The finished description reads “A capybara looking relaxed in a hot spa. Yellow yuzu fruits are...

Roku explores taking over HDMI feeds with ads (www.lowpass.cc)

Roku is exploring ways to show consumers ads on its TVs even when they are not using its streaming platform: The company has been looking into injecting ads into the video feeds of third-party devices connected to its TVs, according to a recent patent filing.  ...

superfes ,

Uhhhg

Someone tell me there's an OSS Roku like system out there >_>

superfes ,

Well, I wonder if this can be like RaspberryPied or something to make it a set top box...

superfes ,

I wouldn't even feel compelled to root my phones if Google would actually back up my phone instead of whatever 1/4 baked shit they've done thus far.

superfes ,

Mine backs up my text messages, but I would prefer to backup my app data, authenticators, wallpaper, themes, games, etc., not every app is a shitty front-end to a website.

superfes ,

Caught somewhere between Windows 95, OS/2, and BeOS...

superfes ,

IMHO, they should have not settled, and won a lawsuit for precedent, this is going to keep happening.

superfes ,

My laptop is at 150%, my external display is at native resolution, like god intended.

superfes ,

At 150% it's the "same" resolution as the desktop display, which is great for window management, % of wasted space completely depends on how many pixels you had to start with...

The Mirror - A Godot fork meant to rival Roblox/UEFN just went open source (www.themirror.space)

This is kind of huge, isn't it? I've been seeing this engine around for a while (it was still in closed alpha I believe) and it seemed really well done. It's a Godot fork that's intended to be a simpler experience like Roblox, where it has visual scripting, handles all the multiplayer itself, and allows you to create worlds...

superfes ,

It'll be nice to have more competition in the market.

superfes ,

I miss Firefox remembering where its windows were when it restarts >_>

superfes ,

I love how you could literally be trying to give a company money and they still want more...

superfes ,

Stupid, LLMs do not create new relationships to words that don't exist.

This is all just fluff to make them seem more like AGI, which they never will be.

superfes ,

Not sure I understand your question, the article specifically mentions the training LLM making connections that were not in the training data, which is a human perspective, LLMs are just math.
