Me too. I don't see the point. My life is already full of distractions and I bet the batteries in those are hard to replace when they inevitably don't hold charge any more.

Buy g-shock, know time. Good.

Fair enough.

The writing style is a bit weird, but I think the concerns are valid. That sqlite file is a treasure trove for hackers/scammers.

Which sites? Been using Firefox since forever and all is well.

Why do people still use Google search? I switched years ago. It was easy. I don't regret.

If DDG doesn't work for you, try https://www.startpage.com/

I used it for several years before moving to DDG.

Audacious also has a mode that looks like winamp. I think it even supports winamp skins.

Can we have removable batteries again now?

Come to think of it, why do they even call this use case a VPN? I'd call that a proxy.

Wasn't it already rebooted not so long ago?

Rabbit R1 is Just an Android App (lemmy.world)

See, it turns out that the Rabbit R1 seems to run Android under the hood and the entire interface users interact with is powered by a single Android app. A tipster shared the Rabbit R1’s launcher APK with us, and with a bit of tinkering, we managed to install it on an Android phone, specifically a Pixel 6a....

Watched a review of this thing. Don't see the appeal. Especially don't see why it needs to be a separate bit of hardware.

It's all mind-melting in my experience

Yeah thanks, i know. Just saying, KDE is massive.

UK flooded with forged stamps despite using barcodes — to prevent just that (www.bleepingcomputer.com)

If a stamp have a barcode, why not just let people who have printers at home to print it on the envelope directly? This eliminates the need to buy physical stamp, thus the probability of buying counterfeit stamps.

vext01 ,
@vext01@lemmy.sdf.org avatar

OP, you can do just that on the website or app.

vext01 ,
@vext01@lemmy.sdf.org avatar

I've printed a barcode and posted it normally and it arrived OK.

Curiois.: Where are those kinds of fuses used?

In the UK. I've only ever seen those in cars.

In case, like me, you were wondering what this has to do with ssh:

openssh does not directly use liblzma. However debian and several other
distributions patch openssh to support systemd notification, and libsystemd
does depend on lzma.

vext01 ,
@vext01@lemmy.sdf.org avatar

When using reolink in a self-hosted setting:

  • how do you get notifications of someone at the door?
  • can you use the android app still?
  • how do you securely store video on your server? They say they support ftps, but I have no idea how hard that is to set up. Shame they don't support sftp.

Thanks

vext01 ,
@vext01@lemmy.sdf.org avatar

With ftps, can you use a self-signed cert? If so, how does it verify the cert? Do you have to upload the public key, or does it cache it on first use?

Looking at the decline around me, I doubt
my local council has any money to employ said people. Our roads are full of potholes. Had a blowout on one not so long ago.

If the government can't get more money coming in to councils, this will have to do.

Another successful OpenBSD setup

I've been buying these little boxes from AliExpress for years to use as firewalls and routers. My oldest one is almost 9 years old now! OpenBSD installs just fine. Just a BIOS tweak to always boot up after power is restored.
