What? Not everyone dissolves the eggshell in citric acid? /s

Bismuth OP ,
@Bismuth@lemmy.cafe avatar

I slam it into vinegar and turn it into a risky bouncy ball

spujb ,

I crunch it in my mouth and spit it into the pan

starman2112 ,
@starman2112@sh.itjust.works avatar

Just swallow the egg shell and spit out the yolk and white. Why do people make it so complicated?

Kolanaki ,
@Kolanaki@yiffit.net avatar

A complicated hand gesture in which I hold the egg between my forefinger, ring finger and thumb and flick it with my middle finger.

I_am_10_squirrels ,

Smash it on my forehead. The egg goop runs down my face into my mouth. I eat the egg raw, shell and all. Then I do a primal yell and bust out another set of 20 reps.

If I'm doing more than one cracking two together is best. For the last one, countertop.

I get the flat, inside-the-sink idea. But I'd want to clean either way, and I clean the counters more often than I clean the sides of the sink.

Thrella ,

I drop it on the pan to crack it.

Seasoned_Greetings ,

This... Might not be as dumb as it sounds.

Goddammit you son of a bitch I'm gonna try it

I typically use the edge of a knife to crack the eggs, not a very sharp one but sharper than a butter knife. It makes the shell open much more easily and without shards than it would when taping on a bowl or the counter.

baggins ,

I get a bowl and crack it on the outside of the bowl (not the rim) then put it into the bowl to check for shells before it goes into wherever it needs to be.

bownage ,

Flatter surface = better crack

CosmicApe ,
@CosmicApe@kbin.social avatar

There are people who don't just use the edge of whatever vessel the egg is going into?

accideath ,

If it’s a plastic bowl I use the counter, otherwise whatever I put it into

BirdyBoogleBop ,

Corner of the counter. I have perfected cracking eggs on that edge I always mess it up on the cooking vessel

FakeGreekGirl ,
@FakeGreekGirl@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

That's a great way to get some extra calcium in whatever you are making.

You know, from the eggshell fragments.

TommySalami ,

You know, from the eggshell fragments.

How much force are you people using to crack an egg?

FakeGreekGirl ,
@FakeGreekGirl@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

It doesn't take much when you are cracking eggs against an edge like that.

skulblaka ,

I give my eggs the People's Elbow from the second floor

Chadus_Maximus ,

I use a hacksaw to get the cleanest cut!

nezbyte ,

I prefer using the coping saw for eggs that are medium-sized or smaller. A delicate cut for a delicate egg!

moistclump ,

Table saw egg cracker over here

WanderingVentra ,

I'm a corner of the sink man myself. Sometimes the counter top if I get lazy.

Eagle0600 ,
@Eagle0600@yiffit.net avatar

Yeah, I just do mine on the countertop.

criitz ,

I use flat surfaces after learning it tends to leave less shell bits than doing it on an edge

RebekahWSD ,

Edge of teacup, then into teacup to check for blood or shells.

Neato ,
@Neato@ttrpg.network avatar

I'm nearly 40 and I don't think I've ever had blood in my eggs.

Which plane do your source your chickens?

TheAlbatross ,

You've never cracked an egg and seen a lil dark spot? That's blood.

puchaczyk ,

Is blood bad? I always ignore it...

TheAlbatross ,

Some folks don't eat blood for various reasons.

RebekahWSD ,
@RebekahWSD@lemmy.world avatar

I do a lot of baking, but even then it only happens once a year, if that. I still don't want to have to throw out an entire batch of food because I cracked a bad egg into it instead of into a tea cup first.

LKPU26 ,

Which plane do you source your chickens?

^That cracked me up 🤣
