Got_Bent , in Tesla plans to charge some Model Y owners to unlock more range

At some point, my car is going to be a skateboard. These shitty subscriptions that companies are rolling out can bite me.

tux , in Tesla plans to charge some Model Y owners to unlock more range

Looking forward to the lawsuits on this going forward.

Not really sure how you've bought a car if they can paywall physical features. otherwise folks should ask for pay for hauling /storing "tesla's" extra batteries around

andrewta , in Tesla plans to charge some Model Y owners to unlock more range

Love the idea of Tesla, getting charged for full usage of the battery that I already bought? Yeah bite me.

homesweethomeMrL , in Tesla’s Supercharger layoffs couldn’t have come at a worse time

Tesla had also accepted $17 million in federal EV charging grants before gutting the Supercharger team.

In reality, Tesla is doing the opposite of expanding its network. Sources told Electrek that Tesla canceled four New York-area Supercharger locations, backing out of the leases, giving credence to Musk’s prediction of slower installations.

. . . Elsewhere, projects to install Tesla’s slower Level 2 destination chargers at apartment complexes have also been affected. A condo owner named Don Burke posted on X that his building was in the middle of installing four chargers when the project stalled. Burke said his emails to Tesla employees have bounced back, and there’s no indication that there’s anyone left at the company who can help.

. . . Over on Reddit, a commenter posted that their $7,000 project is also in limbo since Tesla needs to fix the software, but no one is responding. Another contractor related how his project building a 43-charger station has been canceled after their contact at Tesla said the entire team was fired.

Tesla also has a big contract with Hilton to install up to 20,000 chargers at hotels, but it’s unknown if the project will be affected. A spokesperson for the hotel chain did not respond to a request for comment.

What a freaking embarrassing turd circus. How can anyone think this guy is capable of running a lemonade stand much less several huge companies. Pathetic.

It’s trumpian in its gruesome ineptitude.

BruceTwarzen , in Tesla’s Autopilot is under investigation again following “recall” software update

They're not a car company, how are they supposed fix a car?

circuitfarmer , in Tesla profits drop 55%, company says EV sales 'under pressure' from hybrids
@circuitfarmer@lemmy.sdf.org avatar
  • Now-famous poor quality control
  • Questionable design decisions like shifting with a screen
  • Company smells Musky

Yeah, I'm sure it's the hybrids.

Guntrigger , in Tesla profits drop 55%, company says EV sales 'under pressure' from hybrids

Haha yes. I'm sure it's the hybrids (which have always been competition) and not the unhinged CEO, poor quality forcing recalls, poor progress at self driving to a point it is being overtaken by other manufacturers and a general drop in brand confidence.

BrikoX OP ,
@BrikoX@lemmy.zip avatar

It's both. Hybrid popularity skyrocketed during the pandemic.

nxdefiant ,

That's mostly because used cars cost as much as new cars, and new cars were hard to come by thanks to chip shortages, so if you wanted a car you got what you could get. Everything sold during the pandemic.

BrikoX OP ,
@BrikoX@lemmy.zip avatar

It was boosted by pandemic, but the trend is still going strongly, so that argument doesn't hold any water.

nxdefiant ,

Well you said "during the pandemic". That was the context for my response, I never said anything about after.

BrikoX OP , (edited )
@BrikoX@lemmy.zip avatar

Your argument was that people bought anything that moved and that's why hybrids got popular, which is plainly not supported by the data.

All the top tier manufacturers that went all in into EVs are reversing their stance and going full force in hybrid production. That started during the pandemic and continues to this day.

US only sales data

Kyrgizion , in Tesla slashes Full Self-Driving price after Elon Musk said it would only get more expensive

You mean the full self driving that already killed several people?

ChicoSuave , in Tesla Cybertruck bricked after car wash, claims user

He also received a call from Tesla to check on him. The advisor said that "it is a known issue in the Cybertruck that when you do a screen reset, instead of resetting in the standard two minutes, it takes five hours."

Why does anything take 5 hours to reboot?

TubeTalkerX , in Tesla Cybertruck bricked after car wash, claims user

Is there a “light Breeze” mode?

How about “Crusin on a Sunday afternoon” mode?

GrymEdm , in Tesla asks shareholders to approve Texas move and restore Elon Musk’s $56B pay
@GrymEdm@lemmy.world avatar

It's disgusting. $56 billion is enough to make someone the 18th richest person in America, and richer than some of the richest whole families. 14,000 people have just had their jobs taken away through no fault of their own, the latest in what feels like a constant stream of large layoffs in multiple industries.

Look at how close Musk is to losing #1 in America - Musk is hemorrhaging money (mostly via Twitter) and others are catching up. If this is being driven by a narcissistic need to hold onto #1 it would make this ridiculous payout even more senseless.

markstos , in Tesla asks shareholders to approve Texas move and restore Elon Musk’s $56B pay

The same week they’re laying off 14,000 employees?

SatansMaggotyCumFart , in Tesla has spent $200K advertising on Elon Musk's X so far

Is this more or less than they spent before?

BrikoX OP , (edited )
@BrikoX@lemmy.zip avatar

$0. They didn't believe in "traditional advertising like other automakers" before 2023.

SatansMaggotyCumFart ,

While Tesla disseminates information about its vehicles via its Twitter account, Musk told CNBC that approach is "preaching to the converted and not reaching people that are not already convinced."
Last year, Musk touted the company's "$1 (trillion) valuation with $0 advertising spend" on Twitter.

SatansMaggotyCumFart ,

So are you saying they didn't spend $151,947 in 2022?

BrikoX OP ,
@BrikoX@lemmy.zip avatar

I have no access to data to make that determination. Vivvix data is not public. All I did was quote the sources.

SatansMaggotyCumFart ,

I literally linked the source in the previous comment.

BrikoX OP ,
@BrikoX@lemmy.zip avatar

I quoted from your source. So the same source seems to contract itself.

lobut , in Tesla whistleblower in legal battle over braking-safety concerns

Tesla claimed she had used company time and resources for a secret personal project, which it said was embezzlement - a crime in the US.

It's only okay for Elon to do it. In any case, they have no proof and didn't present any proof of it to her it seems.

Her concerns seem relevant now with the Cyber Truck having that accelerator pedal issue too.

JoMomma , in Elon Musk’s reputation is falling — and it’s taking Tesla with it

I know an ex-tesla engineer, they said to never buy one, and they bought a BMW themselves
