A person capable of self-reflection would realize that it's much easier and safer to trust people around you that know more about their respective areas of expertise. Probably not, just got more and more bitter with every year seeing kids do what he never could. Dumbledore thought he was doing him a favour by letting him stay at Hogwarts, but it must have been hell for Filch. On the other hand, he could have always just quit of course.

I absolutely agree and would only like to add that humans also have a Confirmation bias that is of course reinforced by engagement algorithms as well. So not only do we tend to only see the negative but also predominantly the negative that reinforces our worldview. Best example is the fact that many people are convinced crime rates are going up all the time while they are actually going down world-wide for decades already.

I love the evil path in the Mass Effect trilogy. First game - you're an asshole. Second game - LITERALLY A PSYCHOPATH. Third game - good guy but kind of sarcastic.

Yeah, a few decisions are stupidly evil in the third one too, but overall renegade dialogue choices are mostly just funny.

It's more like the designs were by H.R. Giger, whose design principle was "yeah but what if it was a vagina and/or penis?"

EDIT: Not quite right. Giger did designs for Jodorowsky's failed Dune project which Lynch took over. I would still say there some elements in the movie that look quite Giger-y. Yeah, global warming was kind of a bad name for it. Because yes, it will get warmer globally on average, but also colder, drier and wetter at certain places. Northern Europe might get a lot colder when the Gulf Stream is gone for example.

When I first heard about it in school in the 90s, the preferred term seemed to be "global greenhouse effect", which still implies warming but better describes the underlying physical principle.

But now we should really call it "global climate catastrophe" or "global climate extinction event" to communicate how dire the situation is.
