I tried so hard to figure that shit out but never managed to actually make anything good (I have zero musical talent), but we had this one friend in the group who had, so they'd always have one of our phones, composing our ringtones lol.. I feel old 😂

If you want to give your kitty companion the best shot at a long comfortable life, keep them indoors, it's as simple as that.
Leads exist, and so do catios and window boxes if you're lucky enough to have the space, they can still enjoy the sunshine and fresh air without risk of them getting run over, attacked by another animal/person, getting injured otherwise. I know I just couldn't bear it if my baby was outside all on her own and got hurt..

I am like your friend in that I remember all these small "aside" details from random conversations/situations for years and years later, and I try my best not to do that thing you describe your friend doing because yeah, people really don't like it.. 😂

Can't help what sticks in the brain though (it's definitely not a choice, nor an obsession with any one individual), and it is good to have at least one or two people you can say these things to (maybe not the really embarrassing things), just because sometimes it's nice to have confirmation that you are actually remembering all this stuff that really did happen/was said, and are not just imagining things or losing your mind lol

This would only be valid for new-borns, since the implication is that no experience you had before year x, x being a number arbitrarily agreed on a couple thousand years ago by humans, exists. Which could potentially be great trauma-wise, but not really in any other sense.
All those decades of experience (and skills, and trauma..) are vital since they inform and shape the opportunities you not only have access to, but how you can or can't deal with them if you do.

I feel personally attacked by your first paragraph 😂 my parents having got married and had kids because they’re “supposed to” then promptly split up and were more concerned with being known as parents than actually being them, and also being an asexual constantly exposed to ignorant shit (and worse). exactly, we all have, and still are. To the point where internalised and lateral bigotry are also a thing (again in service of the Imperialist White Supremacist Capitalist Heteronormative Ableist Theistic Patriarchy). There is so much to unlearn and it's ongoing work, the end point being to abolish those systems, but to also stay vigilant that they never return (by nurturing community, solidarity, and justice), so it never actually stops. Unfortunately many people are comfortable enough with the status quo that they aren't willing to take that kind of commitment on (especially one that involves a significant amount of self reflection and discomfort of realisation). Another feature, not a bug..

Jfc, it's distressing to see how many people buy in to the personal responsibility propaganda and are actively not only licking the boot that's on all our necks, but doing the corporations' dirty work for them, gleefully, ignoring the entire picture (the deliberate spending of many trillions, and holding governments in their pockets to keep us dependant on oil and having no viable alternative) except the tiny little fragment they're comfortable confronting - other individuals. I'm literally housebound, have never owned a car, and haven't been on a flight in about 2 decades, I guarantee you consume significantly more oil than I ever could. You really did pick the wrong fucker to make your ableist and exclusionary assumptions about (E: though I LOVE the projection - you assumed I'm against shifting responsibility to individuals because I don't want to change my habits, when in reality it's you who are unwilling to change yours, your habit being punching down instead of up because those at the top told you to).

And you know what, if you disappeared tomorrow and didn't even use any of that oil - that still wouldn't solve a fucking thing (in terms of oil production that is, otherwise if that happened it'd definitely be a more pleasant world lmfao).

Because individual use isn't the fucking problem and would be resolved if the oil companies weren't keeping society hostage for profit. Individual solutions CANNOT solve systemic problems

But sure, whatever helps you continue to blame the little person you can feel superior to, rather than face any real threat to your ego - pointing the finger at those actually at fault (which you feel inferior to because deep down you actually look up to the scumbag owning class), and trying to act against the cause of the problem, not its symptoms.
