And the post length limit on Bluesky is 300 characters (more precisely, 300 Unicode Grapheme Clusters).

Venator ,

Probably would still need the 12V battery to have enough charge to close the connection to the high voltage battery that would power the step down converter.

But yeah it seems dumb to me that most EVs don't keep the 12V battery topped up from the high voltage battery somehow while the car is parked, but I'm not an electrical engineer ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Venator ,

There really shouldn't need to be a 12V battery at all

I think it's mainly there just to be able to control the circuit that cuts power to the high voltage battery off while the car is parked for safety reasons.

Venator ,

I prefer the term Yankee doodlegrees, thank you.

Venator ,

How would taking another train even help with the ticket price?

Venator ,

They prefer apple cider.

Venator ,

It's still incredibly stupid to dilute your own votes and give him more votes...

They could also sell shares to raise money to hire more people...

Venator ,
Venator ,

AI uses water?

Venator ,

That's crazy, they should use heat pumps and maybe underground refrigerant loops instead.

Venator ,

There's not much room for improvement in terms of efficiency for EVs, except maybe lower rolling resistance tyres and better aero. You generally have to replace the whole car for better aero though unless you don't mind having some bolt on mods 😂

Venator ,

Batteries capacity per m^3 and/or per KG is improving over time though, so that's where the main reason to upgrade an EV would come from.

The fuk? Please help me complete this insane captcha (lemmy.world)

Fridge fridge hamburger truck truck... ??? What's the blue thing? I thought hamburger would be the answer, but it isn't? I just get the same captcha with the hamburger in a different place. WTAF is happening? And what's the blue thing? I answer and it refreshes with the same icons in different places. I AM HUMAN!

Venator ,

This is 2024, if you want to play games you've purchased legally you have to crack them

Venator ,

Oh... I guess you need to have purchased it from steam to be able to use the crack...

The one who gives us water for sure...

Venator ,

He should just contribute to mastodon instead.

Venator ,

Actual translation: remind me about it again close enough to the date for me to predict what my energy level will be on the day, then I'll definitely know if I want to go or not.

Venator ,
Venator ,

Maybe the change my mind meme should just be avoided entirely rather than creating a replacement as it's just giving the bigot more publicity and letting more people know thier name when you complain about it being used rather than the replacement.

Venator ,

Well it's pretty easy to get around even without the translation mental gymnastics, you just have to ask for forgiveness before you die and put the church as the only beneficiary in your will.

Venator ,

Also it seems like some people have a bunch of bot accounts that vote alongside them, especially vegans, I mean, how many vegans are there really here...

Venator ,

And the reason a lot of games are made for windows: nvidia helps companies with testing and development support, but funnily enough they help with testing nvidia hardware, and only on Windows.

I guess they only do Windows to try to keeo development costs of the drivers down? But I'm not sure.

Venator ,

Just crack open a window and light a candle.

Venator ,

Exactly: replace AI with "crypto mining" or any other waste of processing power in this paragraph and it is just as relevant...

Venator ,
Venator ,

Nah its actually dumber than they predicted: the manager asks the computer what to do today and the computer tells the manager to lay people off.

Venator ,

How do you think they would create that damage to the environment if nobody would buy their products?

Selling to other billionaires and governments...

Venator ,

China or Russia would probably buy it. Or the US military.

Venator ,

I guess you don't have very punny friends. I basically saw the punchline coming from the thumbnail 😅

Venator ,

If you find it so disconcerting maybe you should report them and try to get them band.

Venator ,

We'll have all that, and escalating poverty at scales that are difficult to imagine...

Venator ,

I guess lemmy must be full of sticklers for etiquette, and It's rude to play with your food.

Venator ,

Also, uhhh I'm not AI

An AI would say that... 😂

Venator ,

Also they only bought the domain, and haven't patented any part of the game design...

Venator ,

They also ask about personal property being left in the street and stolen. People said that if someone leaves their stuff in the street and it’s stolen, then it’s their fault. But when it switched to cars, it was suddenly not their fault.

If they'd asked a question about a bike locked up to a bike rack that would probably be more equivalent. I think if they'd asked if you left your car unlocked with the keys in thr ignition then people would say that's your own fault if the car gets stolen too..

Venator ,

Yeah true, I'm just saying that's what I'd expect the survey responses would probably be like, and maybe "fault" is to strong a word 😅

Venator ,

I've just never worked out how to easily open private browsers from my mobile sync client

I think the easiest way is to use the share ... menu to get the link and then paste it in the private browser.

But yeah, no way to stop the keyboard app from seeing the link once it's in the clipboard... And Google also probably gets it from the android share functionality...

Venator ,

They'll probably start air dropping poisoned food or smallpox blankets...

Venator ,

Open source cars are kind of a thing, if you're doing an engine swap, or building from scratch or something, that will usually require you to remove all of the privacy violating parts as a side effect. You could probably achieve a similar result with slightly less effort by removing the infotainment and replacing the ECU with an aftermarket one...

Most of the privacy violation parts are just in the infotainment though, so if you manage to replace that you'll be pretty much there. Only issue is newer cars have all the hvac and things like reverse cameras controlled through it...

Another option would just be to make sure it has no network connections.
