A product you were just talking about pops up in an online ad. How? Advertising algorithms are so good that they may know what you want even before you do. C...

Listening=spying. There's literally a little fucking soy in every phone. The best way to give them hell is to poison the well. Shit in it. Just put your phone over a thing that sways around and makes voice sounds. So a radio and a baby swing. It will think it's you and it will start fucking up their database about you.

werefreeatlast ,

Sorry Tesla but every captcha about bicycles and street lights was just too good an opportunity to be bad! LOL ... bicycle! 🚲 Nah! That's just 🛣️ road! Continue!

werefreeatlast ,

Forget Tesla dude! Trust me I'm from the year 2024. In just a few months your world will change drastically and everyone will start getting 😷 sick and wearing a mask. We called it COVID 19 and it was bad. Real bad. The only way to fight this pandemic was to isolate as much as possible until a vaccine was made available. The markets never crashed like Trump suggested.... almost as if he knew something was happening....you must invest all your money on moderna and Pfizer vaccine related stocks. Anyway, that's all I remember. Paxlovid was okay but not a vaccine. Wow, Lemmy let's you time travel! We need to invest into this technology!

werefreeatlast ,

Totally!.... At the home Depot if someone shoplifts a drill, tell them where the drill bits are. Chances are they won't be able to come back to home Depot again for a while. They might as well have all they need.

werefreeatlast ,

And it can go fuck it self all the way down. I can only think of one good thing to do with Google and that is to de-googlelize yourself.

werefreeatlast ,

Can't drive a bus or make a burger remotely. You can fly a plane remotely but you probably don't really want to do that if it has passengers in it. Can't clean remotely but you can definitely do paper pushing remotely, design work, meetings, management etc remotely. The key is landing the right job that can be done remotely.

werefreeatlast ,

Okay but could they please hide the microphone settings a little deeper under menus that are already hard to find such as whatever makes the PowerPoint presentation go full screen? No one has ever figured out that one. It's just that we love the resonance of that beautiful feedback sound. As soon as one of the old farts joins the meeting, we know that beautiful sound that slices thru all mosquitoes in the area is coming. But all too soon someone walks through the procedure for turning off the microphone. If we could have it for another 10 minutes without automatically detecting it like almost any other software from the 90's would, that would be sweet!

Nintendo is preparing to sue the proper technologies out of existence. Anyway, what did you say the researchers last names were? First names too if you got them. Nintendo would love an address and possible information on their whereabouts around lunch time. It's all for the benefit of all players out there!

werefreeatlast ,

Very much agree. Plus dicks are fun to play with! Right? I mean we all play with ours while sleeping in the dog h...couch! Right? But I think lesbians do better too.

werefreeatlast ,

The enshitification will continue for a while, moral thanks!

werefreeatlast ,

Hold on, I gotta watch a Charmin commercial before my toilet 🚽 will flush for me....you know, my toilet that I purchased for my restroom. ....it's coming, laugh now but you, know it! Cha-cha-cha! Charmin!

werefreeatlast ,

You mean fucking sonobabich right? Respectfully ofcourse.

werefreeatlast ,

I should start my own rental thing. I tend to buy what I need for DIY projects and I'm on the build up of tools phase. I can pretty much build my own house if I wanted, or fix anything in my car. So I got a number of toys just catching dust most of the time. But toys are fun.

werefreeatlast ,

I can show anyone that I can successfully apply low grade carbon fiber as flooring material. No matter what grade porcelain you use, you probably wouldn't use it for a submarine, car or plane body. It's all about proper engineering design based on sound science and testing of materials.

George Carlin did talk about the 20? Senior citizens who past away in Bolivia when they all stood up on a goddamn rollercoaster. Right into the fresh Bolivian La Paz air. I thought I should mention it since free tickets to Dizne could be the first step Being used to reproduce such a catastrophic event.

Watch out you whistleblowing yous out there. Accept no free tickets for Dizne.

werefreeatlast ,

Well actually it sounds like it ended perfectly?

werefreeatlast ,

Hey! I got the new MarkBoork! It can drop in the air like my HayPad!

werefreeatlast ,

Okay now if we get the pigs from the previous post to chase the extremist groups then that's a win win! But if the cops are part of the extremist groups, then we're screwed.

werefreeatlast ,

I said if so I'm covered either way. I have family in the pig sty....so at least some cops are just oiky cute little buggers. But a pig is a pig is a pig gotta pig.

Yesterday on my way to work as usual everyone was slowly crawling to the 20mph sign by the nearby school. But no cop. But then eventually down the road the cop had caught somebody.

So basically we all gathered to vote to borrow a cop from another precinct just so he can catch us going 25 or 23 near a school. And you gotta watch it. It's basically a permanent fear mongering illegal check point. Can't the fucker go stop people at the qwickee Mart or something at least one day of the week?

werefreeatlast ,

Yeah. The server and software should be open source and API available. That way we actually own the system and don't have to just toss it out if someone goes out of business.

Fucking ulock for example suddenly wants me to create an account and sign in to their website to use my front door lock! What the fuck is that! We need consumer protections for this sort of shit. I didn't sign up to giving away when I come in and when I go out of my house! WTF to the max!

werefreeatlast ,

It slowed down my desktop experience significantly. Like it makes no sense at all. One day I'm working I solidworks on windows 10 and old computer at acceptable speed, the next I get assigned a new, bastly improved computer, with windows 11 and solidworks latest version, and it's slow as fuck! I just want to end it sometimes. It lags, it crashes, it's worthless! SW is worthless on its own, but with windows 11 its like 10 times worse. I think they are actually serving it on a server secretly and we are just remoting into it. It behaves almost exactly as when using remote desktop. It's terrible and I want it gone!

werefreeatlast ,

Borrowing from the Simpsons...sorry Gupta and Raj and all my other Indian friends..."hey Mr Google! Don't eat the cookies from the Cookie jar!" But instead of cookies it was pickles. And then Mexico! My friends and family.... Google will have to figure out how to de-drug, and de-kidnap the place. It's really dangerous going there now and it has been like that for decades now.

werefreeatlast ,

Every kernel update on Ubuntu kills my wifi driver. So I automatically recompile and add my new driver....same driver each gaddam time. But it's not an ad 😂 lol.

werefreeatlast ,

The only time I call is at home to my kids to get the trash out. Phones are a dying tech.

werefreeatlast ,

It's just a dozen! You know how many people COVID took? And everyone wanted COVID! ...it spreads of the air? Where's my fabric non filtering 😷 mask with added holes baby!? So you know...how cool would it be if you're riding a ordinary car and someone else is driving it into a wall or semi, except it's actually not a sentient being but an algorithm? It would be pretty cool right?

werefreeatlast ,

LOL I already blocked YouTube and I forgot how to undo that on purpose!

werefreeatlast ,

Both seem/are single point of failure choices. I like a fediverse YouTube alternative.

werefreeatlast ,

Well here we are sharing textual communication on fedi. It's only a slight stretch. Like maybe I will share space by "liking" a video. Or maybe you have to explicitly click a "serve" or "seed" button. It's not pie in the sky and it would eliminate all ads and other shit videos...you like a video ? Ok share it or download it if you want.

werefreeatlast ,

Yes, that's not the same.

werefreeatlast ,

Okay 👍

werefreeatlast ,

Yup.

Tech brands are forcing AI into your gadgets—whether you asked for it or not (arstechnica.com)

Earlier this year, Microsoft added a new key to Windows keyboards for the first time since 1994. Before the news dropped, your mind might’ve raced with the possibilities and potential usefulness of a new addition. However, the button ended up being a Copilot launcher button that doesn’t even work in an innovative way....

werefreeatlast ,

Keylogger=bad unless it came decipher what you're doing so Costco can order more diapers or more vegan snacks.

werefreeatlast ,

Remember when Google wasn't evil?

Nah, it's time for something other than email that does what email did before but without the ability to spam or inject bad stuff.

werefreeatlast ,

You mean Paid Agit? Pronounced "Piece of shit!

werefreeatlast ,

First they need Toyota to test their chemistry and develop their battery production system....it's part of the way Chinese companies develop technology.

If Toyota can do it, China will too! A win-win!

werefreeatlast ,

It's the development time 🙂. For example the new generation microchips. You know the US has them and Taiwan makes them. China is currently developing the technology. They got all their technology development partners out in the US and Taiwan working hard to develop all the little details.

werefreeatlast ,

Since Google is failing at Ads, my cousin Pedro is opening a brand new Taco and Ads shop! Need tacos and the knowledge of gods? Why not right? It's better than my uncle's engine, coffee, bananas and ads stand. Or my neighbor's "Ads apples and diapers are us".

It's open season on delivering ads. I only learned about my fictional cousin from the bottom of an almond milk carton. He was missing, now he's got ads for you.

Windows 11 Start menu ads are now rolling out to everyone (www.theverge.com)

Microsoft is starting to enable ads inside the Start menu on Windows 11 for all users. After testing these briefly with Windows Insiders earlier this month, Microsoft has started to distribute update KB5036980 to Windows 11 users this week, which includes “recommendations” for apps from the Microsoft Store in the Start menu....

werefreeatlast ,

Yup same here. But I've compiled my own kernel already....copy pasting instructions. I've chrooted to a failed X computer from a USB Linux to then fix X and go back to a good computer. I mean there are levels of engagement and it just takes time to learn. But certainly android users are using a Linux-like system themselves not knowing anything about the levels below where all the action is. You can make Linux as dumb as windows 3.0...well maybe not as dumb. And you can make it as configurable as you want. I mean, you could even rewrite all modules and recompile them such that if a virus is hitting all other Ubuntus or mints, your system would be fine because it was different by a single letter or something as such.

werefreeatlast ,

Good company before fiskar screwed over by bad CEO. CEO then goes to fiskar at different role but fiskar also bankrupts. Do you not see a pattern? LOL... I see patterns.

werefreeatlast ,

I know right? But for everything else there's the block option.

werefreeatlast ,

We can't have nice things.
