I have so much nostalgia for their music <3 she has such a beautiful voice

A_Very_Big_Fan ,

Just another instance of common anti-consumer behavior from multi billion dollar companies who have no respect for the customers that line their pockets.

A_Very_Big_Fan ,

I think it's because what Google is doing is just ChatGPT with extra steps. Instead of just letting the AI generate answers based on curated training data, they trained it and then gave it a mission to summarize the contents of their list of unreliable sources.

A_Very_Big_Fan Mod ,

I'm gonna approve the post since it's been 5 days since the last Save TF2 post, but let's not let it get to the point of spam. I'm anticipating a lot more of these as we get closer to June 3rd haha.

It's not the people, it's indoctrination. They're just as much of a victim as anyone else.

A_Very_Big_Fan Mod ,

It can be done way easier than that! You can just bump a portal through the glass and skip to the incinerator.

A_Very_Big_Fan Mod ,

It's chamber 17

A_Very_Big_Fan Mod ,

I will never forego an opportunity to show off.

(TL;DR): Start by playing/replaying casually, eventually you'll feel like you can beat it in 1 sitting. Time yourself, and then try to beat your time. As you get more and more comfortable, search for tutorials and incorporate more and more tricks/glitches in your runs. Eventually you'll have a trick for each chamber, and your runs will look like mine.

It started with me just replaying the game occasionally, and after a year or two I thought hey, it's pretty short, let's just see if I can beat the whole thing in one sitting.

My first run took several hours because I didn't have the solutions memorized lol. The next day I decided to time it, and since a lot of the solutions were fresh in my memory it only took ~2hrs. So I just kept telling myself "I can do it faster than that" and I kept doing it again and again until it only took me about 40mins.

At some point I looked up speedruns and found Noircat's run at GDQ, and it blew me away. I wanted to be able to do that too, so I watched a bunch of tutorials and started learning some tricks (this was one of them, can't find the others... these days we have a Google doc). I started out with just a couple, but they all took a massive chunk out of my final time. After a lot of learning and practice I had a trick for nearly every chamber, which got my time down to ~20 minutes. After that, it was a process of watching other people's runs and saying "I could probably pull off that trick / learn that glitch" and just replacing old strategies with new ones.

I have one of each, both black female cats.

The first is an absolute angel. I've literally never seen her hiss, bite, or claw at another living being. Not even a bug. When she's walking on shelves or dressers, she's super careful not to knock anything over, and she never tries to steal food (but she will go for a sniff at an acceptable distance). She gets so excited to see me when I get home that she drools when I pet her.

Then the newest one is an absolute coin toss. She flip-flops between being the sweet little angel that brings you her mouse asking to play fetch, and a spawn of Satan that will look you dead in the eyes as she knocks a full glass of water off of your nightstand.

A_Very_Big_Fan ,

Absolutely! ;3

Given that it's a tool to find anime pics, that's probably the name of the category it's trained to detect. I think it's "getting" that specifically trained AI as a module, not getting an app.

I had something like this when I was working retail during the pandemic.

Customer: Why are you wearing a mask???

M: It's policy. And I like having my face covered because I'm trans.

C: *visibly confused* ....what? Nobody else is wearing one.

M: Right, but I'm trans, so I like having the masculine parts of my face obscured by a mask.

C: ...wha- I don't care!?

##then why did you ask 🙂

CEO of Google Says It Has No Solution for Its AI Providing Wildly Incorrect Information (futurism.com)

You know how Google's new feature called AI Overviews is prone to spitting out wildly incorrect answers to search queries? In one instance, AI Overviews told a user to use glue on pizza to make sure the cheese won't slide off (pssst...please don't do this.)...

A_Very_Big_Fan ,

Honestly, they could probably solve the majority of it by blacklisting Reddit from fulfilling the queries.

But I heard they paid for that data so I guess we're stuck with it for the foreseeable future.

A_Very_Big_Fan Mod ,

I think the hype is warranted in terms of technological progress, it's just the way a lot of big corporations are using it is braindead and often anti-consumer.

It is technically doing exactly what it's supposed to do, but the people in charge at Google seem to have blatantly ignored one of the most important rules of programming: "garbage in, garbage out". They paid for shitpost-tier data, and now it's doing exactly what anyone with half a brain would expect it to do with that information.

A_Very_Big_Fan Mod ,

He's an absolute garbage human being. There's a podcast that was popular a while back dedicated to reading them and spotlighting exactly how evil he and his message is.

Homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia... All the -phobias. His dedication to hating anyone that's not a white Christian man is almost impressive.

A_Very_Big_Fan Mod ,

Omg is this Stupid Mario Bros? I haven't thought about that in like a decade

A_Very_Big_Fan Mod ,

otherwise what is the point of a transparent and federated platform?

So we can call this behavior out, then pack it up and move 196 to a new instance where this mod isn't in control.

A_Very_Big_Fan Mod ,

True lol, I'm just saying that the option being on the table is important. If they don't fix the issue, they risk everyone leaving for a better 196 elsewhere.

A_Very_Big_Fan Mod ,

Otherwise you are free to write Moss and become part of the mod-team

I did when they put that sticky up a while back, but I applied too late and never heard back from them lol

But to be clear I'm not saying we should do that right this instant, I'm just saying it acts as a good deterrent from letting this stuff fester.

A_Very_Big_Fan ,

I think delusion might be a better word. You can hallucinate and know it's not real

A_Very_Big_Fan ,

Idk man, in my experience laptops break down a hell of a lot faster than PCs

A_Very_Big_Fan ,

I'd be more open to the idea if it were made by literally anyone else and was an entirely local process

A_Very_Big_Fan Mod ,

people who gladly feed on stolen labor and exploitation of the global south for their slop generator to work

What is this even supposed to refer to

A_Very_Big_Fan Mod , (edited )

of the global south

I meant this part specifically.

I already know y'all think storing the .01% of data derived from the images is theft. What's the labor specifically being stolen from "the global south"??

Edit: my bad for skimming the whole comment lol, I see now

A_Very_Big_Fan ,

It'd be nice if Google unlisted links that bring you to "install our app or you get nothing" pages

A_Very_Big_Fan ,

It's what all the normies use. If they lose a major source of traffic over it, they might stop doing it.

A_Very_Big_Fan ,

I think that stems from the developer's intent. Making a hard game easier waters down the journey the creators intended, but making an easy game harder only adds to the experience. Like, the 2D Mario games are generally really easy, but there's still lots of value in those games. But then there's the bonus stages which are generally really difficult, and that adds even more value to the journey.

Then on the other hand you have From Software's games, where the creator has said many times that the experimentation, adaptation, and the subsequent deep sense of accomplishment cultivated by the difficulty is a key part of the experience he wants his players to have. (There's also the sense of community that comes with helping others with advice or cooperative gameplay) Relieving the player of the difficulty with an "easy mode" only serves to water down that experience.

A_Very_Big_Fan ,

It's not a bad game because they don't have features to make it more accessible to me, but it COULD be a better game if they did.

They already have this feature. With the exception of Sekiro, you can summon a partner to help you defeat any challenge as long as you're outside the tutorial area.

That, or you can just find enemies you're comfortable with defeating repeatedly and use them to level up until the game is easy enough for you. Or you can look up good weapons and where to find them. Or items that may help in certain situations, or weaknesses the boss/enemy you're struggling against has...

A_Very_Big_Fan Mod ,

I think this post awakened something in me

A_Very_Big_Fan ,

Proton lets you run games that don't support Linux. Idk if it'll work for D2, but it's got a great track record for me so far on my Steam Deck.

A_Very_Big_Fan ,

It's Twitter, dude. You're limited by character count

A_Very_Big_Fan Mod ,

Halberd, despite it's impracticality in general combat

A_Very_Big_Fan Mod ,

I watched all 3.75 hours of that video and I feel enlightened

A_Very_Big_Fan Mod ,

But what if he's an especially good boy?

A_Very_Big_Fan Mod ,

I did this once in freshman year HS. I was sitting on my friend's desk zoned out staring at a book on someone else's desk, and I came out of it when a girl said "THOSE ARE BOOBS"

Idk how long I was staring, but I was still kinda pissed because she was just standing in front of me for no discernable reason.
