Interesting. I wonder if it could be a kind of Dunning Kruger effect where you assume because you're good at logic or some other smart thing your brain doesn't have all the same zero day exploits as the rest of us.

Aurenkin ,

The whole concept of the self‑made man or woman is a myth

- Arnold Schwarzenegger

Aurenkin ,

Before I read this comment I believed the concept of hell was immoral.

I went to the doctor in my country with a sore wrist. I got prescribed an anti inflammatory medication. The pharmacist split the pills up into individual bags to help track what I should take each day.

The whole thing including medicine cost me $5 USD

Aurenkin ,

If you consistently have a strong hunch it's probably time to see a doctor.

Aurenkin ,

I don't mind the measure words so much because you can always use the generic one and people will understand, it's the tones that really mess me up.

Aurenkin ,

Dumplings vs sleep....it still gets me

Aurenkin ,

First I had a pickle, then I didn't have a pickle and now I'm in a pickle

Aurenkin ,

You'd be surprised how often we can automate a customers enquiry with ML (not even generative AI). Humans are still there as a fallback, but it's a way better experience to give instant help to the person if possible and then put them into the queue if they have a more complicated problem. Searching is not really in the same context as automating customer queries, although I guess it could depend on the domain to an extent.

Aurenkin ,

Yes this is literally my job dude but go ahead and tell me how wrong I am

Aurenkin ,

We use a home grown classification model for our customer facing stuff. There are some applications of LLMs we are using a SaaS for as it's quick to get going but we are also working on fine tuning an open source model as well so we'll see what ends up working better in terms of cost vs performance. That's not going to be customer facing though, we don't serve any generated text to customers.

As mama used to say, time travel is like a box of chocolates.

Aurenkin ,

Yes I spit fire

Hope lies in tha smoldering rubble of empires

Back through tha shanties and tha cities remains

Tha same bodies buried hungry

But with different last names

These vultures rob everyone

Leave nothing but chains

Pick a point here at home

And tha picture’s tha same

There’s a field full of slaves

Some corn and some debt

There’s a ditch full of bodies

To check for tha rent

There’s a tap, a phone, tha silence of stone

Tha numb black screen

That be feelin’ like home

Aurenkin ,

It's not always right but it saves me tonnes of time at work, usually when I want to do something simple in a language or environment I'm not totally familiar with.

Aurenkin ,

I'm not saying it's going to take anyone's job anytime soon but it's a lot quicker to get something tailor made for your problem than going to stack overflow. Everyone should use the tools that work for them but don't sleep on this stuff, like any tool it's really helpful once you know how to use it.

Aurenkin ,

Absolutely true. I think regex might be one of my favourite uses to be honest. Both in writing them and explaining wth an existing one is doing.

Aurenkin ,

The pope would probably tell you to have the courage to raise the white flag and give your home to the demon.

Aurenkin ,

Glad to see his views got more well rounded over time.

Lies and brine, Mr feet men....lies and brine

The majestic bin chicken reaching new heights.

All the best with the project!

Aurenkin ,

I haven't had any serious problems on PopOS but I've still experienced the shittiness that is NVIDIA on Linux. Starfield was broken for months due to a graphics driver bug, then when it was finally fixed, that driver version broke Cyberpunk... Fucking hell NVIDIA.

Aurenkin ,

NVIDIA still have the best performing cards if you care about ray tracing. I honestly think that's the only reason to consider buying NVIDIA but you pay a heck of a premium for that.

Aurenkin ,

The same forces but concentrated onto our heroes arms. Very efficient way to slice

Aurenkin ,

Sometimes picking your distro is kinda like picking your difficulty level.

Aurenkin ,

I own a switch and bought the games for it but prefer to play on my steam deck these days so I can just have one device.

Aurenkin ,

Wait what, there is a Nintendo switch emulator out there called Yuzu? Thanks Nintendo!

Aurenkin ,

Looks like it's still available through a mirror.

Aurenkin ,

Well obviously because when Pippin was sick, the orcs gave him free medicine

Aurenkin ,

Not surprising, trains are awesome. I certainly hope nobody was suggesting replacing trains with electric cars though.

Aurenkin ,

Yeah nobody brings religion into these debates. They just say things like "God doesn't make mistakes" without even realising the irony.

Aurenkin ,

reads title

reads comic

...

Well I don't know what I was expecting

1990? Personally I'm movin' to '92...still in a room without a view.

The White House wants to 'cryptographically verify' videos of Joe Biden so viewers don't mistake them for AI deepfakes (www.businessinsider.com)

The White House wants to 'cryptographically verify' videos of Joe Biden so viewers don't mistake them for AI deepfakes::Biden's AI advisor Ben Buchanan said a method of clearly verifying White House releases is "in the works."

Aurenkin ,

I think this is a great idea. Hopefully it becomes the standard soon, cryptographically signing clips or parts of clips so there's no doubt as to the original source.

Remember when comments were less whingy? Me neither

It's strange that you don't understand over-analyzing on Lemmy. It's a fairly frequent occurrence and the act of participating here implies a willingness to subscribe to that particular culture a significant part of which is over-analyzing things. Perhaps if you could you'd prefer to reject the over analytical nature of the site but by becoming a member of the community you become a part of the culture wholesale. I guess in that sense if you don't give in to that part of the culture you will in fact change it so maybe by you being here and not understanding it, over analysis becomes slightly less a part of the intrinsic culture of Lemmy.

(just in case. This is meant to be a joke)

    Aurenkin ,

    What a great reaction

    Aurenkin ,

Complaining about Reddit comments is such a Reddit comment thing to do.

    Oh sh-

    Aurenkin ,

Jesus we can't follow that route, it goes over water! Might as well use Apple Maps...

Jesus: Well that's your fault for asking for walking directions!

    Aurenkin ,

You can really see the spark of creativity with this idea

    Aurenkin ,

Are people not having fun with Palworld? I haven't tried it myself but the reviews are 94% positive on Steam right now.
