Not the person you responded to, but for me it comes and goes as a result of OCD. It does hurt, but not terribly. To describe the urge, it's a bit like if there's a big bug on your arm. Once you notice it, it's difficult to not immediately swat it away, and until you do get it off, you're gonna be very aware that there's a bug on your arm. It's pretty much the same feeling, just directed toward hair instead of bug.

It might be totally different for other people, but that's just my experience.

Ah fuck, I worded that poorly. No, talking about it is fine, but thanks for asking! I don't mean the physical sensation is the same, like how you can feel a bug on your arm. Speaking for myself, it's like the mental reaction of "ick there's a bug on my arm, I have to get it off". There's no physical itch or tickle on my skin. I was trying to make that comparison because generally when there's a bug on you, it doesn't bother you if you don't notice it, and you might not even realize it's there for a while. But once you notice it or someone points it out, it'd be hard to just ignore it, even if you couldn't feel it on your skin at all.

As I'm typing this out, I'm realizing that it's possible that not everyone experiences quite as strong a reaction to having a bug on their skin that I do, especially as a person with ocd, lmao. But if you do, well, hopefully this helps!

I wouldn't ever want someone to be able to own a tone/sound of voice. I'm with you there.

But it kinda sounds like they're trying to straight-up imitate her. Like they want people to hear this ai and think it's voiced by johanssen herself.

I don't know if that's true, or if it even makes a difference legally, it's just the impression I'm getting.

Hey, if it was good for you, then good for you. I've done the same for shorter stretches of time, about two years one time. It helped my mental health a lot, and then I came back having the energy to actually get involved and do something.
In case anyone needs to hear it, it's okay and normal to take a break. Or seek support, or whatever you need to do. No lemming is an island, or something like that.

    Seconded. I started studying Spanish just a few months after coming out as trans. I'd expected all the gendered personal nouns/adjectives to make conversations with new people awkward, but not at all! It gave me the chance to tell them how to refer to me straight out instead of waiting for them to either have to ask or guess wrongly.

    And hell, if using that -o suffix for myself doesn't bring the euphoria every damn time. ¡Me encanta!

    I can't que, but I can make playlists in libre (android). There's a "save" option under the video that lets me create playlists and save videos to them. We might just be using different app versions if you can't.

    Edit: A better comparison is a racist joke. Even if the "butt" of the joke is "haha that guy is racist", I don't want the N word showing up on my feed, either.

    I personally don't think the comic was wrong, I agree with what chimbalumber wrote in their comment. That said, I do understand, and relate to, the desire to not see jokes involving sensitive subjects or explicit dark humor. (I dunno quite how to word that, but hopefully it makes sense.)

    I won't argue what content should or shouldn't be allowed in this specific community, I'm not super involved here. But I do remember one nice thing we had on reddit was separate subs for stuff like this. Maybe there'd be one comic strips sub where anything was allowed, one that was more, idk, family friendly? Etc. I dunno if we have that kind of thing here yet, or if this is the only (active) comic strip community. But it might be worth a try to look for/create one ¯⁠\⁠⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠⁠/⁠¯
