The amount of jobs I've gotten through LinkedIn: 0.

The number of people I have found from highschool/college/random person on the street who I can't find in Facebook: waaaaaay too many. If it didn't tell you who was looking for you, linkedin would be far creepier of a stalking tool. I mean, shit I've found people I've only seen a picture of. Now I know where they work, where they used to work, and went to school. By extension I now also know where they likely used to live and at least the general area that they live now (provided they don't work remote that is).

The more I think about LinkedIn, the more I want to remove my profile.

"The data is not affected." You know, that's an interesting thing to point out. The attackers clearly want to restrict access to information, possibly specific information, possibly information in general.

However, whoever is in charge of this DDoS is clearly fulfilling a directive of "prevent access to it." And they clearly don't realize that a DDoS is temporary. Do they have a plan for when it's back up? They can't just DDoS forever, unless they plan on DDoSing the entire internet. And I don't see them having the resources literally the rest of the world has.

peopleproblems ,

Man my birth control seems way safer and way more effective. It's called: "Obesity, Trichotillomania, and absolutely fuck all confidence."

peopleproblems ,

Yeah. Usually an itch for me

peopleproblems ,

Honestly the pain may be the part that causes the addiction. For me it started when I was 11. I was stressed, untreated for ADHD, and an eyelash was in the way so I just plucked it. The result was immediate relaxation. The next time I got an eyelash I just plucked it before I got stressed. Then I started plucking em when I was bored. Then puberty came and I got the same obsession with ance. That was a long one, then it went to these weird gland things in my mouth for a little bit, then it started on my beard which is by far the worst. It doesn't hurt anymore, but the moment it itches, fuck everything.

It's not an urgent anymore it's like scratching an itch. It's automatic. I can't control it undless I have gloves or wrist braces for the carpal tunnel doing this gave me.

peopleproblems ,

Which is exactly why I'm treating both at the same time. Doc got me on Wegovy, and starting out playing beat saber (holy shit 30 minutes of that is incredible, sweat, aches everywhere, maybe not visible progress but damn I feel like moving is less effort) and in therapy for everything in my life.

Right now I'm learning my strengths. Hard to do for someone without a lot of confidence.

peopleproblems ,

How big are they, and what do I need to use them well?

peopleproblems ,

I knew water pressure got high pretty fast, but damn, didn't know it was that fast

peopleproblems ,

My aunt and uncle are Deaf and contentious is pretty accurate.

I get why cochlear implants are shunned, but I don't get why it's such a hot button to even consider. We give paraplegics wheelchairs y'know

peopleproblems ,

It's pretty weird that they'd admit it.

The smart move would have been to sell it and take the L, and use the new money to build the next thing.

peopleproblems ,

Ha, jokes on you. When I lived in Texas the hat and getup were part of the city just as much as the country.

That being said the local swimming hole was a well maintained pool and the roads were all connected to tolls in some form or fashion so we didn't exactly need to worry about brain eating bacteria and mud trapping our cars

peopleproblems ,

Free?

I'll take free GPUs, where can I get some?

peopleproblems ,

So does anyone have a good strategy for transferring non giant things? Like I have a ton of unorganized pictures, documents, videos dating back to my 2009 1TB HDD that still works.

I think I want to run Debian mostly because I don't know any other build well. Well RHEL, but I want to keep it similar to the Steam Deck as I can

peopleproblems ,

You know, I had gotten frustrated using it because it wouldn't understand me, but now I'll use the approach to find out how it understands me

peopleproblems ,

Not that I know much about it but generating images is pretty easy on any modern GPU. Stable Diffusion has a ton of open source stuff, so long as you have like 6+ GB nVidia you can make a lot of that stuff yourself.

You can do it with AMD cards, but I don't know how that works differently as I don't have one.

peopleproblems ,

Minnesota just extended it to 2025 again. I can't get into federally secure buildings, but I can board a plane.

And until I can't, I'm not going to. Part of me likes to think they haven't mandated it yet because I'm holding out.

Which is really because of pure laziness than actual protest

peopleproblems ,

I'm starting to wonder if the trolls are actually trolls that through selective breeding started to look more human like over time

peopleproblems ,

Finally A sex robot that can do all the crazy shit I want and clean itself up after seems a way better use of money than chat bots

peopleproblems ,

Look, I know what I'm into, but I know what I'm not into, and non-medically necessary brain surgery is a big NO

I'll take sex robots any day

peopleproblems ,

"I'm not fascist" says man who declared calling him fascist illegal

peopleproblems ,

Ok so, as a native English speaker, let me inform you, that whatever you think is a rule in English, isn't. It's a guideline. It's a hard language because we lack structure. The native teachers are teaching you the basic guidelines, not actual conversational English, which varies heavily on location, and social group.

peopleproblems ,

I can only assume they are training some specific model for something appearing more human like.

As useless as that will be considering how fucking wildly different we type

peopleproblems ,

The SEC is ignored all the time what are they saying?

peopleproblems ,

Ha, I just looked at hinge. These girls are my age super model types? Get the fuck out of here

peopleproblems ,

Ah. Create artificial supply and demand

peopleproblems ,

Almost like I still have no reason to get a secure boot machine!

peopleproblems ,

Looks like my expensive ass setup was worth it after all now doesn't it?

peopleproblems ,

So it's more to poison search results to stifle Linux adoption

Very end of the article explains you need access to the TPM communication hardware, which no longer occurs external to Intel and And cpus

peopleproblems ,

To do what?

I mean I don't know if y'all been on Facebook since 200X but it's not exactly a place of intelligence

peopleproblems ,

Watch. It will end up being Alec Baldwin.

Elon Musk saw the shitter episode of South Park, and was inspired by it. He hatched a plan. He needed a company working on brain computer interface technology, and Twitter to get renamed shitter. Nuerolink was easy to find, but Shitter was troublesome. He bought twitter, then in what only could be called by Elon Musk some sort of brilliance, thought he could tank the sites reputation so hard and give it a stupid brand that people would roll their eyes and switch to calling it "shitter."

Once that had taken place, he would be able to develop the technology, and finally release a platform that gave anyone the ability to publicly broadcast all their thoughts without a filter. And he would be loved for it

Google demos new Lumiere text to video engine. Results are a huge leap forward from previous engines. (youtu.be)

Google’s new video generation AI model Lumiere uses a new diffusion model called Space-Time-U-Net, or STUNet, that figures out where things are in a video (space) and how they simultaneously move and change (time). Ars Technica reports this method lets Lumiere create the video in one process instead of putting smaller still...

peopleproblems ,

Right? Once the model and training methods are published in some journal, the only barrier becomes the hardware to use it.

Which, given like stable diffusion etc, is really a matter of VRAM. Have enough of that, and this should be possible

peopleproblems ,

There are a lot of things doctors record in evaluations, and they feed these AIs this information and instead of these AIs spitting out a "diagnosis" they calculate risk of harm vs risk of further investigation.

In things like pediatrics, this reduces the need for unpleasant and dangerous procedures - a CT scan impacts a 6 year old way more than a 30 year old.

AI is extremely useful for problem domains with a ton of input, medicine being one. Doctors can only do so much and rely on algorithms just like the AI does. The AI has the benefit of being able to do it a fuckload faster, more accurately, and compare it to more relevant things.

Don't confuse it with generative AI. this is a very different system than that.

peopleproblems ,

Holy shit I didn't even think about that.

Essentially the model is compressing the image into a prompt.

Instead of the bitmap being 8MB being condensed down into whatever the jpeg equivalent is, it's still more than a text file with that exact prompt that gave.

peopleproblems ,

So ive put a lot of thot into this, and after going through what I did with my ex wife, I think it wouldn't be a problem so long as

A. I know about it.

B. I get access to it and all paid content

C. No one else appears in it. This covers the whole "well that was an old video I uploaded" scenario too.

D. The relationship is otherwise secure.

E. But the real problem would be someone with an onlyfans wanting to date me.

peopleproblems ,

Ha, C&E are actually relationship needs of mine, friend.

In fact, I think the others are more indicative of my insecurities, but hey, I'm not anxious-avoidant so I don't know for sure.

peopleproblems ,

And we all get the Opportunity to witness the story!

peopleproblems ,

Ah, the real life Gom Jabbar

peopleproblems ,

I thought it was less about the charred stump and more of another activation of his powers. Turning the inner eye, conquering it, knowing it won't come out a burning stump, because his whole arm and body would be that way if it was actually on fire.

peopleproblems ,

You know what

now I'm really convinced that a nurse swapped out fentanyl for saline after my surgery a couple years ago.

It hurt way too fucking much that I thought that ibuprofen would be more effective. "gave him the max dose" my ass

peopleproblems ,

I got legit angry at it, but it makes sense, there is a very slight but noticeable delay in almost all bluetooth audio. Sony certainly wouldn't want to taint their brand by something that small

peopleproblems ,

guess I gotta get familiar with RISC-V then
