Will the haackers charge a service fee?

The hackers have better morals than that

So... Instead of attacking the company, they are going after their customers. Awesome.

Kinda how extortion works, yeah

Lost_My_Mind , to Technology in Hacker group puts data of 560 million Ticketmaster customers up for sale

Back when I was on reddit, in 2019, I tried so hard to bring attention to an (at the time) new bill that was being voted on. Net neutrality had just been killed officially, and then they passed a new bill. This bill said that companies can take their data they have about you, and the profile they've built on you, and sell a copy of that information to anyone they want without consulting the user. I was outraged at that.

And nobody listened. I'm not saying that this hack was legal, but whomever has that info now can freely and legally sell that info. And the people who buy your profile can legally sell your profile. As long as it can't be proven it's stolen data, and even then ticketmaster would have to be the one to press charges. I have a feeling ticketmaster would just settle for some cash payout instead.

And what about you, the user? Where do you stand in all this? It's your data, so what are your recoarse options?

Fuck you! That's what. This is all legal. This is big business. Fuck off peasant!

I really hate the things that human beings are capable of.

We can be so much better.... but instead we get depraved, morally bankrupt, power hungry pieces of literal trash doing this sort of shit in what seems like every industry.

Yeah me too. But how do I get an invite?

Nice try my friend. You have a good day now.

What the actual fuck.

CNC as a kink is fine, but to be done healthily requires really solid negotiation skills by all parties. Ain't no way in hell you can implicitly consent just by going to a party. Even the most edgey edge-player (someone who does risky bdsm play) I know would nope the fuck out of that.

Fucking awful.

I don't know what's more fucked up. The fact that this kinda stuff is happening or the fact that I wasn't really surprised at all.

If the cheese scientists come up with a replacement, I'd be down for trying Brie 2.

Ok i totally did not expect a cheese(technically the fungus) to go extinct but here we are. I wonder how it grow naturally since it has to be cloned.

MrScottyTay , (edited ) to Technology in Swarms of AI "killer robots" are the future of war: If that sounds scary, it should

Wouldn't this mean that eventually warfare would just be drone on drone combat then? I'd prefer that over lives lost. But it does mean absolute mayhem before everyone is on a level playing field though.

coffeebiscuit ,

It would mean drones on civilians.

dhhyfddehhfyy4673 ,

As is tradition.

DarkThoughts ,

Only for rich nations.

MrScottyTay ,

Hence my last sentence

DarkThoughts ,

Your last sentence implies that everyone can be on a level playing field, which is just not the truth though. Think about rebel groups. They might use the odd drones here and there, especially with another state benefactor, but they'll inherently have to use human resources over robotic ones due to the lack of infrastructure, funding and potentially even knowledge required to produce those things.
This might sound okay at first glance when we think of true terrorists like the IS and others. But what happens when the state actors become the villain and the terrorists actual freedom fighters? Especially given our current climate of rising authoritarianism within the west. Then combine AI killer swarms with AI mass surveillance and it is pretty much impossible to root out said evil again.

MrScottyTay ,

If you want to get dark eventually only the evil will survive and the various evils (if multiple) will then duke it out via drone on drone

GeneralEmergency ,

Richard Gatling had the same thought.

pr06lefs ,

Yes, just drone on drone warfare once humanity has been fully eradicated.

I_Has_A_Hat , to Technology in Swarms of AI "killer robots" are the future of war: If that sounds scary, it should

Everyone's thinking of drones dropping bombs, but they aren't thinking of the true horror; kamikaze micro drones. It doesn't take much to kill someone, and micro drones can be wicked fast. Imagine a swarm of drones the size of a finch or smaller, each carrying a tiny explosive. Imagine these drones flying next to people's heads and detonating themselves. You could clear out a whole building with very little structural damage.

Kraven_the_Hunter ,

You're thinking of kamikaze finches and I'm thinking of Terminators.

Plopp ,

Sure, but what kind of range do you get with tiny drones? Although they could probably be delivered to the vicinity by some other vessel. Like cluster warheads but with a large swarm of exploding autonomous drones.

I_Has_A_Hat ,

Quite a bit more than you would think. Remember, besides the potential for a drone carrier, these drones wouldn't need power for the flight back.

cynar ,

A non-rechargable battery can also have significantly more capacity. A suicide drone likely doesn't need to be recharged.

General_Effort ,

Like a Bat Bomb.

FallingLights ,
AA5B ,

That’s horrifying. I was thinking of this one:

shalafi ,

I've already watched dozens of Russians die like this.

KeenFlame ,

Hoping it will be treated like biological chemical warfare. It may be good at killing, but that's not necessarily the best way of conducting warfare

Freuks ,
@Freuks@lemmy.ml avatar

But that exist already

phoneymouse , to Technology in Swarms of AI "killer robots" are the future of war: If that sounds scary, it should

It’s already here. I realized that the moment I saw a Ukrainian suicide drone chasing two Russians on a motorcycle who were trying to out run it. They didn’t make it, but it definitely felt like something out of a dystopian Hollywood movie.

Liz ,

I'm of the understanding that those drones have pilots.

KeenFlame ,

Yeah no unmanned vehicles fly that well. And it's extremely illegal but idk if that really stops anyone. It did work for some types of ammunition though, and biological warfare? So maybe?
