Nix was my next plan lol. My last distro suddenly had some file system corruption problems mid week when I needed it, so I had to switch to something quick without much time for configuration. So I decided to go for a preconfigured distro.

My next plan is Nix when I have some time.

As for how I back stuff up for frequent distro hopping: Firefox login syncs my browser stuff and passwords, steam syncs my game save files, I backup my home folder to a USB once in a while so I don't lose any local documents. I have private GitHub repos for some window manager, bar, etc configs I've made like sway, i3, polybar, awesomewm, etc., that I use when switching to more barebones distros.

Our results show that women's contributions tend to be accepted more often than men's [when their gender is hidden]. However, when a woman's gender is identifiable, they are rejected more often. Our results suggest that although women on GitHub may be more competent overall, bias against them exists nonetheless.

Perhaps ppl who keep their githubs anonymous simply tend to be more skilled. Older, more senior devs grew up in an era where social medias were anonymous. Younger, more junior devs grew up when social medias expect you to put your real name and face (Instagram, Snapchat, etc.).

More experienced devs are more likely to have their commits accepted than less experienced ones.

DFW here. Saw the weather forecast for Dallas was cloudy and decided to make a last minute drive for Arkansas on the morning of the eclipse. Managed to see it at 100% with clear skies, but also found out that the skies were pretty clear in parts of dfw during 100% anyway so my hours of driving weren't all that useful.

Tap volume down and power button at the same for screenshot. You can just end it there, or use one of the options at the bottom. The options include preview, scrolling screenshot, edit, share, highlight and copy text (computer vision stuff). And you can press the volume and power again to take a screenshot of the screenshot screen as I did above.

Food, water, shelter, and healthcare are not things one chooses to buy, but things one is forced to buy to survive.

To buy these, you need money. To get money, you need a job. You also need enough money saved up to survive after you can no longer work a job.

To get and maintain a job you need to buy some other things. Exactly what other things varies by job and climate, but in general: clothes, transportation, phone, electricity.

That's a lot of things that you cannot willingly choose not to buy if you want to live.

If all the sellers of vacuum cleaners decide to have high prices, people can just choose not to buy vacuums. If all the electricity providers or food providers in an area decide to raise prices, people in that area are still forced to buy it.

I believe capitalism doesn't work without the option of not buying it at all. In markets with few options and that you cannot choose not to buy it, sellers can all collectively jack up prices.

Here's an FTC report saying that they found that large food retailers used the supply chain issues to make deals with suppliers to supply them over smaller grocery stores. This harmed small local groceries. The report also says they found reason to further investigate the large grocery chains taking advantage of this lack of supply to local groceries to increase prices for customers by more than the increase in input cost. They were able to price gouge because only 8 firms control over half of grocery sales and people can't choose not to get groceries.

The argument depends on the context.

To the ppl who think chatgpt and other LLMs will create terminator style robots, you can make the argument that LLMs are just a text prediction engine and incapable of that.

However, you can't use that argument to say LLMs are harmless. They are capable of other types of harm, mostly when users blindly trust what LLM's output.

There is no overarching antifa organization though. Try looking for a website/forum/etc of antifa. There are websites for random local activist groups which call themselves <city name> antifa, but there is no leader or comittee overseeing these groups. There is no process to join antifa, any activist group or individual can call themselves antifa.

So there are no calls made by antifa, good or bad. There are only calls made by individuals or local groups that call themselves antifa.

I know they probably actually meant the States of the US, but...

They did say states with a lowercase s. 'States' = regions within a country, 'states' = can mean countries. Technically they aren't defaulting to the US.
