And then half of them in any room are missing one knob or the other, a quarter are jammed, and a sixth are broken in some very specific way that has actually improved them somehow. Every start of every shift is a fucking cagematch in the fishbowl to get an unbroken or perfectly broken in chair. Don't get me started on the mobile workstations. There's only one that still gets tall enough to not fuck up my neck, and it's the same one with the screen big enough for my aggressively elderly coworkers and I'm not that much of an asshole so if you don't get the good one you just have to figure out which damage or fundamental design flaw you want to screw you mid-shift and I have an extremely unpredictable workload shift-to-shift.

fucking bone

why does your chair have bones at all, let alone fucking bones. What animal did you build it out of and why do you sit on a throne of skulls anyways

But wait. Do most actual trains use the linux kernel? I thought most ones were those traditional cargo ones, without any kind of computing system.

pressanykeynow ,

Probably means modern high speed trains. Most of them run in China so yeah they likely use Linux.

Do most of the trains in the world use Linux? Sadly no, they probably use coal.

You999 ,

In the US I can comfirm both GE (freight and passenger) and siemens passenger locomotives run Linux. Some passenger trainsets/cars still run embedded XP.

Pretty much all locomotives running out there today have a plethora of computers for managing fuel economy, brakes, and positive train control (rules compliance). Fun fact: the union pacific's 4104 'big boy' steam engine was fitted with wabtec's I-ETMS PTC which is powered by Linux so there's literally a steam powered locomotive running Linux.

I hate how the US has sexualized every random word or sentence. I'm here telling my American friend how funny it is that German's call smart phones a "handy", like "haha silly random word that makes sense tho haha :)", but no, ma American bud breaks down laughing imagining German's giving each other hand jobs.

Also the constant stopping during any sentence to go "oh, I know what YOU'RE thinking, get your mind out of the gutter!". No, I don't, and now I have the privilege of trying to remember every single word that wa just said and trying to see what inside there could possibly be a penis. This from of "joke" never fails to annoy the shit out of me. Like please can we just continue, or do you really have to recite this copy pasta while I stare like an absolute dunce at you?

raspberriesareyummy ,

I just had a light bulb moment as to what it is that annoys me about a large portion of US-american men: all the "dudes" temper & behaviour is adolescent - as if they never made it past puberty. Which perfectly fits the sexualized language being funny to those guys.

joe_cool ,

To be fair it's rather odd they call it that. Germans seem rather strange with English in general.

They go to public viewings to watch on their beamers. Even when no one has died. Lothar Matthäus claims "I'm a German record player". They carry stuff around in their body bags and listen to music from "boxen".
Merkel even told the english press about her shitstorm. Every day there is a cringe moment.

Sorry i am foreigner too.... what is the train terminology reffered to here?

nickwitha_k ,

Just explained this to my Irish wife. To "run a train on someone" in American slang would mean having group sex with that person, potentially consecutively.

DragonTypeWyvern ,

Trains are consecutive or it's just a boring old gangbang

Yeah, those boring gangbangs, I definitely feel the same way for sure

In murica almost everything is sexualised... So I can guess

arin ,

I'm American and I have no clue. I'm also a gooner so this must be fringe af

Siethron ,

This is not fringe at all. There's way your a gooner and don't know what this means. People even use the terminology to describe the Sex scene Stephen King randomly put in "IT". It's a gangbang but one at a time.

JohnOliver ,
@JohnOliver@feddit.dk avatar

I must admit that i've seen my fair bit of films in the genre too but never heard of the term

potkulautapaprika ,

To appreciate dave mustaine level coked up king, you shouldn't watch the 'did okay' movie, nor the earlier 'this is terrible' one, you should go get 'It' part 1 and 2 as books :D

AngryCommieKender ,

The earlier one can't be all terrible. They got Tim Curry to play Pennywise

addie ,
@addie@feddit.uk avatar

Stephen King's books tend to be both very long and contain a lot of internal monologue. That's very much not film-friendly. "Faithful" adaptions tend to drag and have a lot of tell-don't-show, which makes for a "terrible" film. Unfaithful ones tend to change and cut a lot, which makes them "terrible" adaptions. For instance, "The Shining" film has very little to do with the book, but is an absolutely phenomenal movie. King hated it.

"IT" the Tim Curry version has Tim Curry in it, who was absolutely fantastic. A lot of material from the book was cut out - I'm thinking it could be 80% or more. That includes the scene where the children have a gang bang in the sewer. Out of nowhere, with no foreshadowing, and it's never mentioned again if I remember correctly. That might make it a "terrible" unfaithful adaption, but you know something? I'm alright without seeing that.

AngryCommieKender , (edited )

Yeah, I've never seen it, and don't want to. I'm just a fan of Tim Curry. I still maintain his best role was in C&C

potkulautapaprika ,

Idk, I just meant young king was wild. As for movie adaptations, I think dr sleep did well. Just because you dragged shining into this, ofc it's great:D Kubrick does stuff and jack nicholson stars, it was a good movie, but can understand king hated it.

Then again, the man himself directed maximum overdrive, and that movie sorely needed Bruce Campbell energy:D

Tbf, I actually enjoyed rose red and storm of the century where he was kinda hands on. <- irrelevant afterthought

E: it was pretty weird when first read, but the stand and dead zone won me over later :D

Although i appreciate you sharing this and that it probably is a video of her hanging out with bad boys, i must admit that i did not watch more than maybe 15 sec of that, combined across a new skips forward.

boatsnhos931 ,

That's why you don't get it, why ask questions if you don't want the answer?! That's the kind of people who say they are going to run a train on a woman. Reprehensible innit love?

JohnOliver ,
@JohnOliver@feddit.dk avatar

LOL.. so you answer by sharing a music video and expect people to perceive it as an answer

Then im guilty as charged I guess

boatsnhos931 ,

Off with his head!!! thought you said you didn't watch most of it? Juicy Jay does quite a lecture halfway through..

JohnOliver ,
@JohnOliver@feddit.dk avatar

Oh alright. Wouldn't know who he is and probably wouldn't understand his lecture based on how much i understood off the few seconds i watched. Luckilly other users have answered with words instead of music videos and they were straight forward and a lot easier to understand

boatsnhos931 ,

I'm so happy they have disability services available for our special people ☺️

luciferofastora ,

You know how in a train one carriage comes after the other? One ends, then the next one starts?

Running a train on someone means one guy after the other banging them.

What if train have kernel panic

Aux ,

Then you get stuck in the middle of nowhere for 40 minutes. Not fun, Eurostar. Not fun at all!

Maalus ,

In Polish, kernel directly translates to "testicle". So it basically says that the testicle panicked.

dankm ,

But does "panic" also mean "panic" in Polish?

Maalus ,

Yes, it does. It's panika jądra which translates to panic of the testicle.
